Qualifications, Experience and Background
I have a post-graduated Diploma in Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Centre of Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) in London and I am educated to Masters Degree Level. I have been working privately in London and on the Isle of Wight for 8 years as well as working in the charity sector counselling young people and young adults. I am an accredited with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists) and fully abide by their code of ethics which includes continuing professional development to which I am committed and regular supervision.
My training was integrative covering a variety of therapeutic models including psychodynamic, person-centred, existential, CBT and the transpersonal which brings a holistic and deeper element to the work, linking body, mind and spirit. I also work with guided visualisation, dream work, mindfulness, gestalt movement, creative therapies, family constellations and indigenous earth based systems such as the medicine wheel and the elements.
I also have a Diploma in Astrological Psychology from Astrological Psychology Association (APA) founded by Swiss astrologer/psychologists Bruno and Louise Huber. Astrological Psychology uses astrological charts to assist in the process of psychological and spiritual growth encompassing our heredity, environment, spirituality and links with the cosmos. Bruno described this approach to psychology through astrology as 'gilt edged'. He could discover in one or two sessions psychological issues that would only become clear after many hours of psychotherapy. If you are interested in using this method we can discuss this at our initial session.
I have had a life long belief that there must be more to life than this which has led me to find others ways of being and seeing the world. In my early 20s I discovered shamanism and the wisdom of indigenous people which led me to undertake year long trainings and workshops with Leo Rutherford, Foster Perry, Michael Harner, Denise Linn, Sandra Ingerman and Nunez del Prado. I find that Shamanism has many similarities with my training in transpersonal psychotherapy and where possible I like to combine both in my work, using the mind, body, feelings and spirit.
I also practice transcendental meditation.
Last year I finished my training as a supervisor with Robin Shohet and Joan Wilmot, Centre for Supervision, Training and Development and I am currently offering supervision to trainees as well as qualified practitioners on-line via Zoom or Skype.
